Outfit Of The Day: Herringbone A-Line Skirt

Hello readers, how are you all?

Recently, I've been trying to become a bit more confident and unique with my style, as I'm usually in a pair of black skinny jeans and a pretty average top. All of my friends have a distinct fashion type and when I'm in a shop I'll easily be able to point things out and say "That's very Katy" or "Harriet would love that skirt", but I doubt anyone would be able to do that for me.

I'm still at that stage where I'm figuring myself out, in more ways than one, so I guess it'll take time for me to settle into a style that suits me perfectly. In the mean time, I'm keeping an open mind.

On Saturday, I went shopping and popped into Topshop. I was so lucky to be given two Topshop gift cards for Christmas, but I was yet to spend them. Whilst I browsed the shop (with that pre-mentioned open mind) I came across this gorgeous skirt. At first I wasn't sure, but I quickly grew to love it and ending up buying it.

Topshop have called it the "Herringbone Jersey A-Line Skirt" and it's £26 (although I got it for £23.40 with my student discount). Click here to find it on the website.

Anyway, today I wore it to college, and I paired it with this H&M top (no longer on the website) and a pair of black tights (can find from anywhere).

I hope you liked this post, let me know what you thought, and if you'd be interested in reading another like it?

Hope you're all having a fabulous day.
Love as always,
Georgia

January Favourites

Hello my lovely readers. How is it that January has already come and gone?
I came to a realisation that I've only ever done one monthly favourites post in the 7 months I've had this blog, and it was all the way back in July when I first started blogging. So, a second one is long overdue, so I'm going to do it now.

"Noughts and Crosses" by Malorie Blackman

At the beginning of the year, I set myself a reading target of at least 15 books in 2016 (it's nothing compared to my friend's 50, but at least it's something), and the first of those books was "Noughts and Crosses". My sister gave it to me for Christmas and I'd heard nothing but good reviews from others who've read it. I became quickly enthralled with the story and was reading whenever I had a chance. I know can't wait to read the other 3 in the series, which I'll be doing very soon!

"25", Adele
My mum got this for Christmas and I've been listening to it a lot. It was very much awaited for by the world - me included. Adele has got one of the most powerful, honest and purely beautiful voices that I've ever heard, so I knew that I'd love album number 3, just as I did with numbers 1 and 2. My favourite song is without a doubt, "Hello" - it's one of my favourite songs ever, so of course it tops the album for me. Every song is a masterpiece, although my top 3 (excluding "Hello") are: "When We Were Young", "Water Under The Bridge" and "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)".

More Music
I've been listening to music a lot more this month, as I got two more albums for Christmas: "Made In The A.M." by One Direction, and "1989" by Taylor Swift, both of which I absolutely love. Since Taylor's music is no longer on Spotify, I've downloaded them onto my phone, so I've been listening to whole albums instead of single songs now; one of them being "Native" by One Republic. It came out a couple of years ago and I've had it on my phone for a while, but I've listened to it a lot more recently and I really think it's amazing! My favourite song is probably "Au Revoir", I think it's beautiful. I'm going to listen to have a look into their other albums now!

Accessorize Purse
My best friend gave me this for Christmas and it's so cute! It's so handy to take to school and I can keep everything from coins and hair bands and clips to keep them all in one place, and it's so pretty, so thank you so much to my best friend for being so lovely and giving this to me!

Hot Water Bottle
I've never had a hot water bottle before, but I was given one for Christmas so of course I tried out. Turns out I love them, I mean they're so cozy, and how cute is this one with the adorable fox cover?!

Lumosity App
This is a brain training type of app, in which you get three games each day (with the free version) which you can play as much as you like, to improve skills such as attention, memory and problem solving. All of the games are so fun, and I love the train game the most as it's really addictive and improves your multi tasking and attention skills! I'd recommend you download it!

Sewing Book

I popped into WHSmith's the other week and felt like getting a sewing book as I want to become a bit more creative and develop a new hobby. Well I bought this book by Dorling Kindersley, and it's really useful. It has loads of techniques and basic skills, but also has several projects for you to try out, which I'm going to do!

Ralph Lauren Perfume
I went into Boots hoping to get myself some perfume in the sale. I've never had a "posh perfume" before, only body sprays and things like that. Anyway, this one was reduced from £43 to £21.50 and I love the smell. The best part about it was that not only did the set come with the perfume bottle, but it also came with a shower gel, and a mini bottle to take around to refresh throughout the day!

Memory Jar
Lastly, but by no means least, I've been loving my memory jar. I first heard this idea from my favourite Youtuber, Fabulous Hannah, who suggested that her viewers made one for themselves. Basically, what I do is write down little things that have made me smile or feel happy then pop them in the jar. And at the end of the year I'll open up the jar (which will hopefully be full!) and read through what a lovely year I will have had! I'm doing this because I feel like we can easily forget all the good things in a year if one bad thing has happened. Like last year I found doing my GCSEs quite stressful and now looking back on it, I can't actually remember all the little things in life that I enjoyed. I don't want the same thing to happen this year, so I'm making sure to keep up-to-date with this memory jar!

So those are my favourite things throughout January! Let me know what sorts of things you've loved this month, as I love hearing from you!

Thank you so much for reading,
Love as always,
Georgia
